FRONT-man, Alex Nicholls scored his first goal of the season at Accrington on Tuesday and is hoping to use it as a springboard. "Obviously it was disappointing to lose the game, but from a personal point of view, it was good to get on the scoresheet," he said. "It made up for the disappointment of being left out for the opening game of the season at Brighton.

"I just want to try and do my best and make sure that the boss has to pick me. I really want to make a good go of this season and be as positive as possible.

"It is important to get off to a good start at home and get the fans on our side straight away. A winning start will bode well; the supporters pay their money and want to be entertained.

"For me it is all about putting runs together and we will be looking to build on last Saturday's win at Brighton. We've certainly got the squad to do that."
