HUGHES HONOURED TO BE GIVEN CAPTAIN'S ARMBAND

Posted on: Fri 07 Aug 2009

SUMMER signing, Mark Hughes knows exactly what to expect as The Saddlers head for Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday. "They are always a physical, in-your-face kind of side," said the former Northampton Town defender. "It's a difficult place to start the season. The Withdean Stadium is never a nice place to go, but we've got enough about us to go there confident that we can bring home all three points.

"It's a tough opening month of the season, but it is a difficult League for everyone this year. No-one is going to find it easy."

Meanwhile Hughes is delighted to have been given the captain's armband. "It's a nice honour for me," he went on. "It's really down to the lads who have helped me to settle in here."

"Mark is a leader and organiser," added Chris Hutchings. "He has plenty of experience at this level and I know that he will do a good job in this role."
