SADDLERS' boss, Chris Hutchings made over 100 appearances for Saturday's visitors, Huddersfield Town during his playing days and still has family and friends living in the area.

In fact, he first joined Walsall from The Terriers almost 20 years ago. "I spent several happy years as a player at Huddersfield prior to coming to Walsall in 1990," he recalled. "Like all of my former clubs, I have kept an eye on their progress ever since.

"They now have a fantastic stadium and a young up-and-coming manager in Lee Clark who will benefit greatly from the experience of Terry McDermott and Derek Fazackerley alongside him.

"I watched Huddersfield win at Scunthorpe recently and they have some good players. Their away form is impressive and they still have an outside chance of making the play-offs as it stands.

"The fact that they are above us in the table means that it will be another good test of how far we have come."
