JOHN Schofield will take caretaker charge of The Saddlers for our first fixture of 2009 as we take on Peterborough United.

"The current situation is that I am in charge until informed otherwise," he said. "The club is going through the list of applicants and until a suitable applicant is found, I will continue to do the job and prepare for games.

"I am going to control the controlables and not waste my energy on other matters. The main thing on the agenda has been to prepare for the game against Peterborough United.

"They are an energetic and well-organised side who have numerous match winners in the team. That said, it doesn't matter what they've got in their team, as long as we perform we'll give them a decent game and give ourselves a chance."
