MIDFIELD man, Dwayne Mattis rates the 1-0 away success at Brighton earlier in the season as the best victory of his career.
The 27 year-old was one of the nine heroes who battled it out for over an hour in the south coast sunshine and also notched what proved to be the winning goal just before the interval.
"I've been in the professional game for just over ten years now and I can't think of a better victory," he said. "I remember that it was a really hot day and when Rhys Weston was sent off after just a quarter-of-an-hour I thought that we were going to be in for a long afternoon.
"Then Netan Sansara was also given a red card 15 minutes later and we were left with a real mountain to climb, but we defended for our lives and to nick a goal was amazing.
"I don't know whether anything like that has ever been done before, but it will certainly go down in Walsall history and be remembered for years to come."
Having won two of our last three games on home soil, Mattis is hoping that the second half of the season will see us achieve a level of consistency to maintain our position in the top half of the table. "Whilst we've struggled for consistency so far, we still find ourselves in a good position in the table," he added. "We've not got the biggest of squads, but we have belief and togetherness.
"We know that it will be a difficult game against Brighton, but we're at home and go into it with confidence, particularly after beating Stockport County here on Boxing Day.
"There are a lot of games on the horizon and we just want to get out there and start picking up points."
