GOALKEEPER, Rene Gilmartin put in a man-of-the-match performance to help The Saddlers beat Swindon Town on Saturday.

"I was pleased with my overall display, but disappointed not to keep a clean sheet," said the Irishman who was beaten by Billy Paynter's last-minute effort. "That said, it was good to be out there showing the supporters what I can do.

"I love being a professional footballer and want to keep improving; I've studied the DVD of the game and will be working hard on certain aspects of my game.

"It can be tough when you are not playing regularly, but you have to be ready to step in and do a job. I felt a lot sharper and more relaxed on Saturday and was pleased with my performance, particularly my kicking.

"I thought that we battled well, showed character and the main thing is that we came out of the game with three points."
