THE MANAGERS REACT

Posted on: Wed 05 Nov 2008

SADDLERS' boss, Jimmy Mullen has reflected upon our Johnstone's Paint Trophy exit at the hands of Luton Town. "I am bitterly disappointed, particularly for the fans who turned up," he said. "We never got started and in the end got exactly what we deserved.

"We can make excuses all day long, but we've got to pick ourselves up and get ready to go again in the FA Cup against Scunthorpe United on Saturday.

"We know that this performance was nowhere near good enough and I will be looking for the right sort of response from the players. They have proved already this season that they can display commitment and togetherness and I will be looking for these qualities on Saturday."

Meanwhile his Luton Town counterpart, Mick Harford was full of praise for his side. "We started brightly, played some decent football and defended well when we had to," he said. "It was a deserved win in the end and I am full of praise for my players.

"Due to our off-the-field problems, there has been something of a seige mentality amongst the players this season, but we were happy to have a couple of experienced heads back in the squad to help the youngsters.

"This performance has set the standard for us and winning is a good habit to get into, so we hope to take it into the next game."
