MULLEN BURSTING WITH PRIDE

Posted on: Mon 22 Sep 2008

SADDLERS' boss, Jimmy  Mullen was bursting with pride with the way that his team battled out three points at Brighton as we played for over an hour with just nine men. "It was absolutely fantastic," he beamed. "To lose two players in the way that we did, score and then hold on for over an hour in that heat showed what a tremendous attitude the players had.

"We threw bodies in the way of everything and every single player out there was a hero. I can't remember anything quite like it in my 40 years in the game as both a player and manager.

"The lads gave me everything and I can't praise them highly enough."

After studying video evidence of both red cards, the club have decided not proceed with any appeal. "Whilst we still feel that both incidents warranted a yellow card, we feel that we do not have sufficient video evidence to support an appeal," said Chief Executive, Roy Whalley.
