SADDLERS' boss, Jimmy Mullen has further strengthened his options with the capture of a familiar face as Dwayne Mattis has put pen to paper on a permanent deal at the club.

The 26 year-old midfielder had a highly-successful four-game loan spell here at the Banks's Stadium last season as he helped the club record three excellent victories and a draw before injury brought a premature end to his stay.

Mattis came through the ranks at home-town club, Huddersfield Town where he went on to make a total of 79 appearances in all competitions.

He moved on to Bury in the summer of 2004 and made a big impact at Gigg Lane in over 100 games. His performances earned him a £50,000 switch into The Championship with Barnsley in January 2007.

The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 International is looking forward to recapturing the form that made him a popular figure amongst The Saddlers' faithful.
