THERE was certainly plenty of incident at the Galpharm Stadium as The Saddlers were forced to play with ten men for 70 minutes following the dismissal of Mark Hughes before coming back from two goals down to lead 3-2 going into the final minute. Sadly Huddersfield Town hit back with two last gasp goals to take the points.
The home side had an early let-off when a header from Manny Smith was touched onto the bar by Alex Smithies and as the ball came out, Byfield was booked for handling in an attempt to find the net.
After Gary Roberts had dragged an effort wide for The Terriers, leading scorer, Jordan Rhodes' cross was scrambled clear in front of goal.
Some brave defending by Darryl Westlake in the 14th minute saw him deny Roberts before Rene Gilmartin spread himself well to save at the feet of Theo Robinson who broke through as the home side looked to build up a head of steam.
There was a key moment in the 20th minute when Robinson's pace took him away from Mark Hughes inside the area and as he was hauled down by The Saddlers' skipper, the referee was quick to point to the penalty spot and then give a red card to Hughes.
Robinson stepped up to open the scoring and in the wake of the goal, Steve Jones was sacrificed as Clayton McDonald came on into the heart of defence.
A corner was met by the head of Rhodes who skimmed the top of the crossbar. Then in the next attack, the lively Roberts cut inside Westlake to get in a strike that Gilmartin tipped over.
Walsall were caught pushing up the field right at the end of the first half and this allowed Rhodes to break clear before coolly slotting past an exposed Gilmartin.

It left Chris Hutchings' side with a mountain to climb in the second half and even the man on the mic during the half-time interval proudly bellowed that Huddersfield had sewn the game up.
Not so.
With Alex Nicholls on for the injured Darren Byfield, The Saddlers survived a couple of minor scares before Troy Deeney capitalised upon some defensive hesitation to roll home into an empty net.
The goal gave Walsall a real boost and although Gilmartin was forced to save at the feet of Roberts, it was clear to see that the home side were rattled as Deeney started to cause problem after problem.
It came as no surprise when Deeney equalised with 20 minutes to go as he broke the offside trap before firing an angled drive emphatically beyond Smithies.
The home side looked to hit back but Rhodes was denied from close range before a free-kick from Richard Taundry was drilled goalwards and pushed over by the 'keeper as McDonald headed the resulting corner narrowly wide.
Former Huddersfield man, Dwayne Mattis was forced to hobble out of the action to be replaced by Mark Bradley and two minutes later, with 83 minutes on the clock, Nicholls lashed home to make it 3-2 and send the faithful 123 fans behind the goal wild with delight.
All of a sudden, the game that was 'in the bag' for play-off hopefuls, Huddersfield was slipping away from them. However, as they pushed men forward, an 89th minute corner was not dealt with properly and Antony Kay was allowed to head home the equaliser.
It was rough justice on Walsall and worse was to follow five minutes into stoppage time when substitute, Lee Novak turned home the winner to leave The Saddlers on their knees.
