Hi All,

Now I'm back at Walsall FC

No more lazing by the sea

I've been lucky enough to spend a couple of weeks at 'The hotel on the beach'

At Perranporth, with the sea in easy reach.

Met up with friends, old and new - Baggies, Wolves, Villa, Birmingham City fans and Walsall too.

I was gutted when I knew Walsall were playing Plymouth at home - why couldn't it have been away

Then John and I would have gone to Plymouth for the day.

Another person who was disappointed was the hotel owner Peter Batchelor - also known as "Batch"

A few years ago when we played Plymouth Argyle, in the Carling Cup, Peter took us to the match

Hospitality and a seat in a box - that was a thrill

Particularly, sorry Peter, when we won - one to nil!

So on Saturday 21st, when we played them again, I was sitting on the beach in the sun

When Nina texted me to say Plymouth had scored - thought that would spoil my fun!

My texts, thanks Nina, kept coming through

Well done the lads we had scored two!

Down for dinner, in the evening - I had to try not to gloat or grin

Waiting to see if Peter would appear and what kind of mood he would be in

I could not be avoided and Peter took it like a man

But then said "are you coming down in April because then we'll beat you - if we can'

Hotel Manager, Alan Hocking, tried to stir his wooden spoon

You will be pleased to hear I did not bite - I was totally immune.

Then Peter's son Hayden was trying to predict League One scores for the year

Colchester Utd. 99 and Walsall NIL - wait until April Hayden and then you may shed a tear.

The following Saturday we all had our fingers crossed

Unfortunately however both our teams lost!

Let's hope we are all smiling at the end of season, next year.
