Hello all
Driving in to work today I can't help but wonder if that's the end of the summer and we ought to cancel the ice-cream order. Will evolution eventually see us Brits having webbed feet and umbrella's growing out of our backs!
One thing you certainly need in the service industry is a sense of humour, especially when dealing with the weather and the new season.
Things can get a little tense at times, and whether you're dealing with customers or work colleagues, our Black Country sense of humour is sometimes invaluable.
Our meeting with the website developers went well last week; I went along with our new marketing officer Steve, and hopefully we're moving in the right direction with the ideas that were discussed.
During our meeting we looked at other clubs and venues, and it was interesting to see how they market themselves, some clubs have one site covering the entire business, and others like us chose to have separate sites for the football and events.
Personally I feel separate sites work well as I'm sure football supporters want to have a site dedicated to football, and our conference and events customers may not necessarily want to know about the football side of the business.
What is important is that we are a football stadium first and foremost, and the link should be there between The Saddlers' Official Website and www.m6j9.com.
I'm still on the look-out for different events and ideas for 2011, in particular Christmas bands, and we are also considering an ''It's a knockout' event on the pitch once the season has ended.
We recently hosted an It's a knockout event for one of our customer's, and they had a blast, so to start this up again with the idea of getting local companies competing against each other I think would be great.
Joe public and many companies are finding things really tough at the moment so hopefully this would offer a chance to forget worries and pressures and have a few laughs, plus it would make for some good pics on our new offdicial facebook page!
I wouldn't be a sales person without doing a little sales pitch before I close, so I thought I would mention that darts great, Bobby George will be appearing here on the 16th September. Okay, so you're all footie fans, but no one can argue that this man is a complete legend and I can only imagine some of the anecdotes that will be shared on the night.
I have already booked my table, and I'm ready for exploding at the mere thought that I may get chosen to get on the oche with the great man.
Well, we're all off to do a sun dance in the car park...
Until next time, TTFN
Dianne
