SCHOOL Holidays… As a kid I used to love the summer holidays. Six weeks without school and plenty of sunshine.
They don't seem the same nowadays. The weather isn't as good as I remember when I was 10 and I don't get the lie-ins like before.
That said, I still enjoy them because I get to organise and run our busiest Soccer School period here at the club.
We are two weeks in to our Walsall FC Soccer School and, already, we have had around 150 children attend courses with us.
Sessions have been running every Tuesday to Thursday. We have held two courses at Banks's Stadium which has seen nearly 100 children attend.
Our partners at WHG arranged a Girls Only course, which went really well. 20 girls attended the sessions at Banks's Stadium. They all enjoyed their 3-day course and ended it with tickets to the Women's International we staged last Thursday.
A local Primary School, St John's (Walsall Wood) also invited us to run a course with children from their school. 30 youngsters enjoyed the sessions on the school field.
Staff from The FA have also visited us for monitoring our courses. I'm happy to say we passed with flying colours. All our coaches are fully qualified and CRB checked, facilities are excellent and (most importantly) it was deemed that the level of coaching was meeting The FA's expectations.
Children enjoy quality coaching sessions, 4v4 matches, 8v8 matches, penalty competitions, World Cup competitions and Prize Draws at all of our Soccer Schools.
We have courses running at Banks's Stadium for the rest of the Summer. Three-day sessions cost just £25 for the first course, £15 per three-day course after that for the remainder of the Summer Holidays.

As well as running the Soccer Schools I am busy preparing for our next Term of work in Schools. The first week of September will be a chance for us to do some in-house training and planning. Two of my staff will be conducting In-Service training days and we will be inducting our New Modern Apprentices during that week also.
Everyone is looking forward to receiving their new training kits for the next 12 months! And after all of that……… we kick off the season on Saturday.
Fingers crossed for a good start and let's hope we can bank our first three points of the campaign.
