ROVERS RETURN

Posted on: Tue 09 Feb 2010

THE SADDLERS face familiar opposition this evening as we take on Bristol Rovers for the second time in three days.

Manager, Chris Hutchings is boosted by the return from suspension of leading scorer, Troy Deeney. He missed Saturday's game due to a one-match ban picked up following his red card against Charlton Athletic.

Rhys Weston (hamstring) and Steve Jones (groin) remain sidelined as skipper, Mark Hughes pushes for a return to the starting line-up having found himself on the substitutes' bench at the weekend.

Fellow central defender, Manny Smith is also eyeing a return to the fray having seen a niggling thigh problem once more rule him out on Saturday. Whether he is available for Tuesday's trip to the Memorial Stadium remains to be seen.

Wide-man, Peter Till was forced to hobble out of the action during the second half after taking a knock, whilst emerging midfield man, Sean Geddes was handed a place on the substitutes' bench.

Bristol Rovers remain in ninth place in the table. They have eight wins from their 13 home League games so far, although their last outing on home soil saw them lose to lowly Wycombe Wanderers.

They were without injured trio Danny Coles, Aaron Lescott and Chris Lines for Saturday's game, which meant a return to the starting line-up for former Saddlers' youngster, Mark Wright who will be hoping to keep his place.

Full-back, Carl Regan suffered a dead leg during Saturday's game and will be assessed in the build-up to kick-off as will Jeff Hughes who also sustained a groin strain.

Rovers signed Doncaster Rovers striker, Paul Heffernan on loan on Monday and he is in line to make his debut..
