BACK TO WINNING WAYS

Youth team come from behind to beat Vale...

THE SADDLERS' youth team came from behind to beat Port Vale as we returned to winning ways in The Football League Youth Alliance North-West Conference.

"We started the game brightly and had good control for the opening 20 minutes," said Academy Manager, Neil Woods. "We missed a couple of decent chances before our hosts started to get back into the game and were the better side for the remainder of the opening period.

"During this time they managed to get their noses in front and we went in at the break trailing by one goal to nil.

"We changed a few things around during the break and, I must say, that we were outstanding throughout the second half.

"We created - and missed - numerous opportunities but eventually got back on level terms from the penalty spot as Kyle Rowley fired home.

"Then the best move of the game ended with us going 2-1 up when Kane Lewis found Levi Rowley and he made no mistake.

"We continued to play some good football after that and the game was sealed with ten minutes to go when Levi Rowley notched his second and our third.

"The boys showed plenty of character and they can be delighted with their second half showing."

WALSALL: Jezeph, J. Smith, Henry, Sangha, K. Rowley, Roberts, Delaney, Kouhyar (Oliver), Shakespeare, L. Rowley (Pooni), Reid (Lewis). Subs not used: Vann, Mannion.
