YOUNGSTERS BACK IN WINNING WAYS

27 March 2014

Youth team run out deserved winners...

THE SADDLERS' youth team returned to winning ways with a deserved 2-0 victory at Macclesfield Town.

"We started the game brightly and moved the ball around well, as we have done for most of the season," said Academy Manager, Neil Woods. "We were guilty of missing numerous chances early on, particularly from set-pieces, but eventually got our noses in front through Amadou Bakayoko.

"We went in at the break one goal to the good but it should have been more such was our dominance.

"The second half saw us play some really good football, which was a joy to watch at times, and the only disappointment was that we couldn't finish off our good work.

"Some of our build-up play was excellent and we were able to double our lead through Jamie Ashmore.

"It was a pleasing performance and nice to see that we were back to the levels that I know we are capable of. As I say, the only criticism was that we couldn't turn our possession into goals to make the scoreline more comfortable."

WALSALL: Jones, Ashmore, Henry, Kinsella (K. Rowley), Christopherou, Dallison, Rush, Sangha, Bakayoko (Shakespeare), McKenzie (Probert), A. Reid. Subs not used: Lovett, Delaney.
