Youngsters breeze into the Midland Youth Cup Final...

THE SADDLERS' youth team breezed into the Final of the Midland Youth Cup with a 6-0 victory over Lincoln City at Banks's Stadium on Tuesday evening.

"We started the game well and had good control early on," said Academy Manager, Neil Woods. "We deservedly went a goal up on 13 minutes when some good link-up play from the front-men ended with Tevin Shakespeare opening the scoring.

"For 20 minutes we played some excellent football and Shakespeare added his second whilst there were further goals from Levi Rowley - with a 20-yard drive - and Mazir Kouhyar.

"We displayed some clinical finishing and tremendous forward movement to go in at the break four goals to the good.

"The good bits of the opening period were very good but there were still a lot of areas that I felt needed improvement.

"It was always going to be difficult after the break, but it was something that we had to deal with.

"We never really dominated in the second half as much as we had done, but we further extended our lead as Levi Rowley grabbed his second of the evening and Rory Oliver completed the scoring late on.

"I was pleased with parts of our play, which were very positive; our decision-making in possession needs to improve, but that should take nothing away from a good night's work and now we look forward to being in the Final."
