YOUNGSTERS END WITH A WIN

14 April 2014

Impreessive finale to Football League Youth Alliance season...

THE SADDLERS' youth team brought their Football League Youth Alliance campaign to a close with a commanding 3-0 victory at Fleetwood Town.

"It was a very pleasing result, but I was even more pleased with the performance," said Academy Manager, Neil Woods. "We had a very young side out there as we took the opportunity to look at some of the new intake of lads for next season.

"We started the game really well and deservedly took the lead when Kyle Rowley headed home from a corner. Our advantage was doubled soon afterwards when Tevin Shakespeare and Levi Rowley linked up well for the latter to find the net.

"We were able to make it 3-0 before half-time when Jordan Sangha scored a tremendous individual goal.

"The half-time scoreline was a fair reflection of our dominance and we continued to play some good quality football after the break, although we were unable to convert the chances that we were able to create.

"In the end, I was delighted with the performance that the lads put in and it was a positive way for us to end the season."

WALSALL: Lovett, Ottley (J. Smith), Lewis (Owen), Kinsella, K. Rowley, Probert, Henry, Delaney, Shakespeare, L. Rowley, Sangha (R. Smith). Sub not used: Jozeph.
