SIX OF THE BEST FOR YOUNGSTERS

26 August 2014

Convincing win for the youth team.

THE SADDLERS' youth team completed a successful week with a resounding 6-0 win at Carlisle United.

"We started the game very brightly and created a number of early chances," said Academy Manager, Neil Woods. "We had plenty of controlled possession and deservedly took the lead when a neat flick-on from Tevin Shakespeare found Romario Reid who finished well.

"Our second goal came in a similar fashion five minutes later as Reid once more was on hand to apply the finish.

"Some great link-up between Shakespeare and Levi Rowley ended with Reid completing his hat-trick during the opening period and there was still time for Kyle Rowley to head home our fourth and Levi Rowley to finish off a neat team goal to put us five goals to the good going into the break.

"The conversation during the half-time interval was about maintaining our standards and continuing to do the right things.

"We duly extended our lead with a fourth goal from Reid, a reward for his work-rate, but he will be first to recognise that it was a real team effort with everyone playing their part.

"It was pleasing to see us put in another strong performance on the back of Wednesday's emphatic Midland Youth Cup win at Grimsby.

"The lads have done a lot of travelling this week but their attitude and enthusiasm has been first-class."

WALSALL: Jezeph, Ottley, Lewis, Sangha (Owen), K. Rowley, Probert, Delaney, Reid (Pooni), Shakespeare, L. Rowley, Henry (Oliver). Subs not used: J. Smith, R. Smith.
