WIN FOR YOUNGSTERS

18 November 2014

Youth team victorious at Wrexham...

THE SADDLERS’ youth team came from a goal behind to win 3-1 at Wrexham.

“We started the game brightly and had good control early on,” said Academy Manager, Neil Woods. “It was good to see us putting into practice everything that we had worked on in the build-up to the game and defensively we looked a lot better.

“Our hosts went on to have a strong five minutes during which time they managed to get their noses in front, but we continued to do the right things and kept plugging away.

“We managed to get back onto level terms with a good team goal that was finished off by Nathan Owen for his first goal for us.

“The scoreline was then turned on its head within five minutes as Tevin Shakespeare found the net from 25 yards.

“Going in ahead at the break was a fair reflection on how the game had panned out during the opening period and we continued in a similar vein after the restart.

“Once again we had good control of proceedings and eventually got our third when Jamie Smith’s cross was met by Luke Delaney who found the net.

“It was a pleasing performance in which we worked extremely hard to secure a deserved victory.”
