WEMBLEY: THE DRIVING FORCE

21 March 2015

Team coach driver plotting a successful route...

THE DRIVING force behind The Saddlers on Sunday will be Team Coach driver, Lee Lambie.

This is the first season that the 28 year-old has been driving the team to away matches and he is proud of being part of history in the making.

“It’s such a proud moment for me,” he said. “To drive a team to Wembley is a real honour and one of the biggest things you can do in my profession, so to achieve that ambition so soon is very special and for it to be for Walsall’s first-ever time at Wembley is just the icing on the cake.

“This is a fantastic achievement for the club; there’s a great bunch of lads here and the staff have really embraced me and made me feel part of the Walsall FC Family.

“There are some good people involved with the club and it gives me a great sense of pride to be part of it with them.

“I can’t wait to see all the fans as we approach the stadium, although actually getting a coach into Wembley is a difficult task in itself, so all the pressure will be on me at that moment!

“I’m going to savour the day and hopefully we’ll have the impressive trophy on board on the way home.”

Lambie, who has been a coach driver for seven years and shares his Saddlers’ duties with Rotherham United, admits that the club now has a very special place in his heart.

“I’ve really taken to the club, to be honest,” he added. “In fact, I took my four year-old son to his first-ever football match earlier in the season and we chose to come to see Walsall beat Sheffield United in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

“He’s also taken a keen interest in the club since that night and is delighted to see the club going to Wembley. He’ll be watching the game on television and shouting for a Walsall win.”
