WALSALL VS. SHEFF UTD: RECENT MEETINGS

19 November 2015

We are unbeaten in our last six meetings with the Blades...

2014/15 Season

17th March 2015 – Walsall 1-1 Sheff Utd – League One
Ashley Grimes scored just two minutes after coming on as a substitute to earn Walsall a draw. Jose Baxter’s sublime 25-yard strike gave Nigel Clough’s Blades an eighth-minute lead but Grimes equalised with a superb header 19 minutes from time. And the former Bury man almost won it for the Saddlers when he struck the post just moments later.
Saddlers team: O’Donnell, Purkiss, O’Connor, Downing, Benning, A Chambers, Mantom (Grimes 69’), Sawyers, Forde, Cook (Grimes 69’), Hiwula-Mayifuila (Bakayoko 85’).
Subs not used: MacGillivray, J Chambers, Baxendale, Flanagan.

20th December 2014 – Sheff Utd 1-1 Walsall – League One
Tom Bradshaw’s header stretched Walsall’s unbeaten league run to seven matches. Jose Baxter rattled the bar for United in the first half, before Chris O’Grady’s low finish put the hosts ahead on 56 minutes. But Walsall responded almost immediately, Jordan Cook crossing for Tom Bradshaw to head home his 11th goal of the campaign.

12th November 2014 – Walsall 1-0 Sheff Utd – JPT
Romaine Sawyers scored the only goal as we booked our place in the JPT Northern Area semi-finals. After a forgettable first period, Sawyers broke the deadlock ten minutes after the break with a glancing header from Anthony Forde’s corner. Mathieu Manset and Ashley Grimes each went close to extending Walsall’s lead, while United’s Chris Porter saw penalty appeals waved away. Our reward was a trip to Tranmere.
Saddlers team: O’Donnell, Purkiss, Taylor, Downing, J Chambers, A Chambers, Sawyers, Cain (Mantom 72’), Forde, Bradshaw (Manset 45’), Cook (Grimes 71’).
Subs not used: MacGillivray, O’Connor.
