SAWYERS UPBEAT

Sawyers in positive mood...

IT WAS a game of two halves at Tranmere on Saturday as an impressive first half display saw us deservedly go in at the break in front only for our hosts to take the initiative in the second period to take a share of the spoils.

“We deserved more,” said Romaine Sawyers. “I felt that we dominated the first half and played really well.

“Unfortunately we could only manage the one goal and as long as it is only 1-0 the opposition are always in with a chance.

“We let them back in it during the second half and they eventually got their equaliser.

“Our goal was a quality finish from Milan. We know what he is capable of and that is why we were so pleased to extend his loan earlier this week.

“He’s an important weapon to have in the team.

“To be fair, we’re creating chances left, right and centre at the moment and getting into the right positions. We just need to make it count.

“Although we got a little sloppy in the second half, if we play like we did in the first half, we won’t be far off where we want to be.

“There are a lot of games coming up with two home matches in the week ahead. It’s always nice to play at home and we face two different challenges in Oldham on Tuesday and then Brentford next weekend.

“We’ve given ourselves a nice foundation to really push on in the second half of the season. If we can stay in and around the play-off places, we are confident of what can be achieved.

“The fans also have a key role to play and they have backed us extremely well. They can see what we are trying to do and that this is a club that is going places.”
