Boss ready for Baggies...

WE GO into the game on the back of Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Aston Villa. We knew it would be a good work-out for us and so it proved.

Our visitors showed their quality in the first half and we found ourselves chasing the ball a lot, but I was pleased with our performance after the break.
We started to move the ball around well and when the game opened up, I felt that we were the bigger threat.

I thought that we were organised when they broke on us and then when we attacked, we carried a real threat.

It was a good game played in a good atmosphere and I would like to thank our fans for the backing that they gave us throughout.

I am happy with where we’re at fitness-wise. The players have worked extremely hard and I can’t fault their attitude. The main thing for me is that we have everyone ready and available for the start of the season on August 8th and right now, we are on schedule to do that.

Our younger lads are a year older and have that extra education under their belts, whilst the new signings have all settled in well and have improved us.

We’re in a good place right now and tonight’s game will form another important part of our preparations.

It’s good to be able to host another Premier League club here and we face the challenge that stands before us with relish and determination.
