TALKING POINTS APLENTY

Saddlers' boss on draw at Swindon...

THERE were plenty of talking points in our 3-3 draw at promotion-chasing Swindon Town.

“First and foremost, it was a superb game of football,” said manager, Dean Smith. “It was two teams intent on playing the right way.

“They started the game well and it took a while for us to get into it, but when we did we looked very good; we passed the ball with purpose and when we went two goals in front it was game over.

“But the decision to award Swindon their first penalty was a game changer. It gave them the impetus and at 2-2 it would have been easy for our heads to drop, but we kept at it and got back in front before being pegged back again.

“It really was end-to-end stuff and credit must go to both teams for producing such a great game of football.

“I was pleased with how the lads reacted today; it extends our unbeaten run and now we look forward to getting back onto home soil at the weekend.

“Our fans were excellent tonight and gave us great support throughout. They will be pleased with our attacking intent and show their appreciation at the end.”
