Mantom's back...

THE SADDLERS have brought talented midfielder, Sam Mantom back to the club on loan from Premier League neighbours, West Bromwich Albion in a deal that will run initially until January.

The 20 year-old former England Under-17 International enjoyed a fruitful spell at the club last season where he played a total of 13 games during the second half of the campaign and scored three goals.

Coming through the ranks at The Hawthorns, he signed his first professional contract in May 2010 and that progress continued when he was handed a longer deal 12 months later.

A technically gifted midfielder who passes the ball well and works hard for the team, he has previously enjoyed successful loan spells with Icelandic outfit, Haukar, Tranmere Rovers and Oldham Athletic as well as The Saddlers.

“Sam is a player that we know very well,” said manager, Dean Smith. “He had a really successful time with the club last season and I am delighted that we have been able to bring him back here.

“He will strengthen us and bring added quality to the midfield; he’s a good passer of the ball who knows our style of play and will fit into what we are trying to achieve here extremely well.”

Mantom is set to figure against Swindon Town on Saturday and whilst he is ineligible to play in our FA Cup first round replay on Tuesday, he will be available should we progress in the competition.
