GOOD TO BE BACK!

Mantom on his return to action...

THERE was a welcome sight at New York Stadium as Sam Mantom returned to the heart of The Saddlers team following a three-match ban.

The midfield man played his part in an impressive display that looked like yielding all three points until Rotherham snatched a last-minute equaliser after we had been reduced to ten men with the dismissal of Ben Purkiss for two yellow cards.

“We’re disappointed that we didn’t get the three points,” he said. “I felt that we did enough to have won but the red card didn’t help and it was very harsh.

“Everyone can see it was a good performance and we’ll take the point and look to build on it.

“We couldn’t get going in attack after the break, but we made sure that we were solid in defence and worked hard to frustrate our hosts.

“Obviously I was pleased to be back out there and hopefully now I can stay there for the rest of the season.

“I felt that I fitted back in well and I just want the next game to come around now.

“It’s a game to relish against a Leyton Orient side who will be smarting from their defeat at the weekend; we’ve had a dip at home but we will stick together and get through it.”
