SAWYERS SIGNS

Saddlers snap up highly-rated Albion youngster...

THE SADDLERS have completed the loan signing of emerging West Bromwich Albion midfielder, Romaine Sawyers, for the remainder of the season.

The 21 year-old is a technically-gifted and intelligent performer who has progressed well whilst coming through the ranks at The Hawthorns.

Able to create opportunities and play off the centre-forward, he has been on the bench for The Baggies but is awaiting his first senior outing for the club.

Loan spells at Port Vale and then Shrewsbury Town last term saw him get his first taste of competitive action and he is looking forward to continuing his development here at Banks’s Stadium.

“He’s a young player that I have seen many times,” said Saddlers’ boss, Dean Smith. “He will strengthen us for the run-in to the end of the season and I am delighted that West Bromwich Albion have allowed him to come here.

“He’s a talented lad who can play off the front-man and did well when he went on loan to Shrewsbury Town last season.

“I know that Albion rate him highly, so it’s good to have him on board.”

Sawyers will wear squad number 33 and stands by to make his debut in our Good Friday clash at Yeovil Town (kick-off 3.00pm).
