Boss looking to build...

WE NEEDED that first League win on Saturday! It has given everyone a big boost as we put in a good performance against a side who will be up there challenging this season.

It was a pleasing display all-round; we started on the front-foot and although we lost our way a little towards the end of the first half, it was a good afternoon's work against strong and powerful opposition.

There were a lot of players out there who could have taken the Man of the Match accolade. We had good performances all over the pitch, dealt with their threats well and score three good goals.

This is a big week for us with nine points up for grabs, and I am delighted with the start that we have made.

The supporters were also fantastic at the weekend and really stayed with us to give the lads the backing that they need and deserve.

Hopefully we can now take this positivity into Tuesday evening's trip to Rochdale. It's a game that we are really looking forward to and hopefully it will yield a similar result for us.

Our hosts have enjoyed a couple of good results on their travels so far following promotion at the end of last season. They are yet to win on home soil, so will be keen to start putting that right.

It will be another tough test for us, but we are ready for it.

The only down-side at the weekend was that Adam Chambers and Tom Bradshaw had to be withdrawn early from the action. Adam took a knock on his ankle, whilst Tom had a tight hamstring. Hopefully neither injury will be too serious as the news from the treatment room is starting to get more encouraging.

Thank you to those supporters who will be making the trip up to Spotland...
