Youngster commits future to the club
Left-back Rico Henry has signed a new contract that will keep him at Walsall until the summer of 2018.The 18-year-old has made 21 first-team appearances since progressing through the club's youth system.
He made his professional debut in a 2-2 draw against Tranmere in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy last December and has featured 11 times this season.
Henry scored his first career goal in a 2-1 League Cup victory over Brighton in August, and netted Walsall’s winner in Tuesday evening’s 1-0 victory over Scunthorpe.
“We’re really pleased he’s signed a new deal," said Saddlers boss Dean Smith.
"He’s a good young player for us and we felt he’d earned the right to a new contract.
“We agreed a deal with Rico and he’s signed a new contract for this year and another two.
“It’s really good news for the football club and hopefully he can continue his fine development.”
