O'KELLY PLEASED WITH ATTITUDE

24 October 2012

Second-string share spoils...

THE SADDLERS' second-string shared the spoils with Rotherham United in a 1-1 draw at a wet and chilly Banks's Stadium.

In our first home Central League Division One game of the season, Febian Brandy's header on the stroke of half-time cancelled out The Millers' opener in a game which saw James Chambers get another 90 minutes of action under his belt.

"I was very impressed with the performance," said reserve team manager, Richard O'Kelly. "Every reserve game that we have played so far, the attitude has been superb and today was no exception.

"We found ourselves up against an experienced Rotherham outfit but our young lads performed well.

"I enjoyed the performance and it's clear that the future is bright here. The youngsters in the side took their chance well with the likes of Jake Heath and Reece Flanagan making their mark, whilst it was good to get more game-time into James Chambers."

WALSALL: Grof, George, Benning, J. Chambers, Purkiss, Heath, J. Jones, Morris, Williams, Bowerman (Flanagan), Brandy (Griffiths). Subs not used: Griffiths, Roberts.
