SADDLERS AMONGST CHEAPEST LEAGUE ONE TICKET PRICES

15 October 2014

Great value here at Banks's Stadium...

WALSALL FC offers some of the cheapest tickets to watch League One football, according to the new BBC Sport Price of Football study.

Saddlers' fans pay £40 less than the average for the cheapest season tickets to watch their team, while match-day tickets are also less than the majority of our rivals .

The club is aware of the need to keep football affordable and match-day tickets have risen by just 50 pence from last season.

The annual study says the cheapest Walsall season ticket is £240.50, £5 more than last season, but the fifth best value in the League. The most expensive is £345 at Chesterfield, with the average cost £284.96.

The dearest Saddlers season ticket costs £410, a rise of £10 on 2013-14, to provide the 12th best value, compared to Chesterfield’s most expensive £550 price.

Match-day tickets at the Banks’s Stadium range from £18 to £24, the fourth and eighth best deals respectively in League One.

The BBC Sport survey, now in its fourth year, covers 176 clubs in 11 divisions, including women’s and Scottish football. It says the average price of a match-day ticket to watch a League One match ranges from £20.44 to £24.50.

The study also works out the cost of a day-out to watch football, buying tickets, programme, tea and a pie, and Walsall is among the best-value venues.
It costs £26.50, a rise of 80 pence on last season, at Walsall, compared to £33 at Yeovil Town and £31.20 at Bristol City. The cheapest is Rochdale (£21.50).

There’s also good news for Saddlers fans keen to show their colours with a replica shirt. Only Coventry City’s cost of £34.99 is cheaper than Walsall’s price of £39.99.
