COOK IN UPBEAT MOOD

17 November 2014

Plenty of positives from Posh clash as we prepare for FA Cup duty...

THERE were plenty of positives to come out of Saturday's game against Peterborough United and whilst in the end we had to settle for a share of the spoils in a goalless draw, Jordan Cook, knows that there is plenty to build upon.

"The lads were disappointed that we did win, of course, but the performance was brilliant," he said. "We were the better side for long periods, created chances and kept a clean sheet.

"I also thought that our energy levels were excellent, especially when you consider that we had three tough games during the week.

"It's important that we focus on the positives and there were plenty of them; we know that if we can perform like this at Shrewsbury on Tuesday evening, we will give ourselves every chance of making FA Cup progress."

Cook was laid low with a sickness bug at the start of last week, but returned to play a key role in our last two games.

"Wednesday's game took a lot out of me due to the bug," he admitted. "But I got myself right and looked after myself properly in the lead up to the last game and I felt really sharp.

"I want to play in every game and now I'm looking forward to helping us make progress in the FA Cup on Tuesday.

"We know that Shrewsbury are a good side who will be well-organised and as such it will be tough, especially as its also a local derby, but we'll go out there and do what we do best and put pressure on them.

"As I say, if we perform as we have been recently, we will give ourselves every chance of progressing. We go into every game believing that we are going to win, and this one will be no different.

"Hopefully we'll have a large and vocal following behind us and we can make it into the second round of the competition."
