O'DRISCOLL: MILLWALL WILL BE A 'REALLY DIFFICULT GAME'

5 February 2016

The Saddlers are back on home soil tomorrow afternoon...

Sean O’Driscoll believes Walsall will face a “really difficult game” tomorrow against a Millwall side he regards as one of the best in League One.

The Saddlers are second in the division and will go top if they better the result of leaders Burton, who are at home to Bradford.

Neil Harris’ Millwall, though, are flying high themselves, having taken 10 points from their last four league matches to climb into the play-off places.

And O’Driscoll has warned his players they will have to be on their game if they are to record a positive result against the in-form Lions.

“Any team that have come down from the Championship to League One will pose a real test,” admitted the 58-year-old.

“We spoke to them over Christmas when we played them and they said there was no pressure on them to go straight back up and they were still trying to come to terms with the division.

“But you look at their team and they’re as strong as anyone in this league.

“It wouldn’t surprise you if them, Wigan, Sheffield United and Coventry – all the bigger teams – become stronger as the season goes into its final phases because their squads are stronger than everyone else’s.

“This will be a really difficult game for us.

“But we’ve been consistent in our performances for a long time so I hope that barring injuries and a drastic loss in form, we can keep the performances going.

"Sometimes the results are in the lap of the gods but if we perform at the level we have performed at then we’ll give ourselves a chance in every game.”

Goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray is again set to deputise for the injured Neil Etheridge, who missed the midweek win at Doncaster with a gashed knee.

Midfielder Isaiah Osbourne is out with a knee injury.
