Boss on our win at inform County...

SADDLERS’ boss, Dean Smith, was a happy man after seeing his side battle out a 2-1 win at Notts County to make it back-to-back victories.

“There were spells when we controlled it and spells when we were under pressure,” he said. “You can see why they are on a good run; they have some good loan players, but we saw the game through and deserved it.

“I said at half-time that we could outnumber them in midfield and we did that; we kept the ball well at times and whilst our end product could have been better, we did our job and got the points.

“I felt that we started the game well, they managed to get into it and had a spell on top, but we were always a threat.

“It was an end-to-end first half and then we were the better side after the break. It’s pleasing to come away to an in-form team and get a win.

“The encouraging thing is that we have a fully fit squad and plenty of options now, so it bodes well for the challenges ahead.”
