MURPHY: WORCESTER LOAN IMPORTANT FOR MY DEVELOPMENT

9 February 2016

Youngster had loan deal extended yesterday...

Walsall’s on-loan forward Jordan Murphy believes staying at Worcester City was important for his development.

The 19-year-old will remain with City until 12th March after having his loan spell extended yesterday.

The talented teenager has made two appearances for the National League North side since joining the club on a one-month youth loan last month.

And Murphy believes playing regular first-team football with Worcester should stand him in good stead for when he eventually returns to Walsall.

“It was important as part of my development to go out and play more games,” said Murphy, who scored two goals in eight loan outings for Worcester last season.

“The opportunity was there for me to extend my loan and I’m delighted to have had it extended.

“I’m at the time now where I need to start proving myself at first-team level. I feel like I’m on my way to doing that and showing the player I can be.

“The way things have worked out, I’ve only managed to play two games for Worcester in the month I’ve been there.

“But the times I’ve been on the pitch, I’ve loved every minute of it and I can tell already that I’m improving and I’ve improved since I was there last year.

“I want to come back (to Walsall) and start challenging for a place in the team – that’s the aim.

“Playing regularly with Worcester should help with that and enable me become a better, more rounded player.”
