LALKOVIC LOAN EXTENDED

6 January 2014

Chelsea man extends Saddlers' stay...

THE SADDLERS have extended the loan of Milan Lalkovic from Chelsea until the end of the current season, subject to FA clearance.

The 21 year-old arrived at Banks’s Stadium in July and has put in some impressive displays during the first half of the season, which have yielded four goals, including a strike on his Walsall debut.

“I am delighted that Chelsea have allowed Milan to continue his development with us,” said Saddlers’ boss, Dean Smith. “He is getting better each week and has a hunger to learn and improve.

“Thankfully Chelsea see this as the right place for him to be able to do that and I look forward to continuing to work with him and help him develop, whilst at the same time, he plays his part in maintaining our challenge at the right end of the table during the battles which lie ahead.”

Possessing an abundance of skill and pace, the Slovakian Under-21 International has progressed well whilst coming through the Stamford Bridge ranks, having joined the club as an under-14 player.

He has previously served Doncaster Rovers, Dutch club, ADO Den Haag and Portuguese top-flight outfit, Vitoria Guimaraes on
loan.

“I have said many times that I wanted to stay here,” added Lalkovic. “Being here has really benefitted me and I feel that I can keep improving under the Gaffer and Richard O’Kelly.

“I am pleased that this deal has now been sorted and I can concentrate on my football and helping the club achieve more points.”
