Captain Chambers looks forward...
SADDLERS' skipper, Adam Chambers, insists the squad must remain positive ahead of the trip to his former club, Leyton Orient, on Saturday (kick-off 3.00pm).The 33-year old spent five seasons with The O’s and relishes going back to Brisbane Road.
“I love going back there," he said. "A lot of the backroom staff are still working behind-the-scenes at the club, so the game has a personal significance for me.
“We put in two good performances against Orient last season. Against a lot of the teams near the top of the table we got some decent results, but I’m looking for us to find some consistency now which we need to progress up the League."
Despite Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat to Yeovil Town, the combative midfielder says The Saddlers had enough chances to get something out of the game and is looking for a response from his team mates.
“We didn’t control the game like we did for the first three games but that’s credit to Yeovil,” he added. “They came and pressed us well. Maybe we didn’t do enough to win it but we still had some good chances in the game.
“We have to be positive and look forward. It’s another big game at Orient.
“They did really well last year and were unlucky not to go up. They’ve had a change of owner so now there’s money at the club and we know it’s going to be a big challenge for us.”
Chambers was named club captain at the beginning of the month but admits he hasn’t had to make too many adjustments since sporting the armband.
“Not much has changed from my point of view," he added. "I just try and do what I’ve always done. Pass on my experience to the younger players and do what I can for the team.
“Perhaps there’s a bit more responsibility but it’s a new experience for me and I’m really enjoying it."
