LALKOVIC IS BACK!

Familiar face returns to Banks's Stadium...

THE SADDLERS have completed the signing of former loanee, Milan Lalkovic, on a one-year deal after he was allowed to leave Barnsley.

The 22 year-old had a successful loan spell here at Banks’s Stadium during the 2013/14 campaign where his all-action and skilful displays marked him out as a popular figure both on and off-the-field.

He came through the youth ranks at Chelsea, joining the club as an under-14 player before going out on loan to the likes of Doncaster Rovers, Dutch club, ADO Den Haag, top-flight Portuguese outfit, Vitoria Guimaraes and here at Walsall FC in a bid to gain competitive experience.

Upon leaving Stamford Bridge, he joined Czech club, FK Mladá Boleslav and then moved on to Barnsley at the turn of 2015.

“I’m really pleased to have Milan back on board,” said manager, Dean Smith. “He did well for us before; there is a lot of potential in him and now that he is our player, we can be committed to the ‘Milan Lalkovic project’ and getting the best out of him.

“He’s full of enthusiasm and energy and is a real talent. By the same token, he knows exactly what we are all about and the way we work here.

“He will have learned a lot from his successful loan spell with us and will also have learned from the disappointments he faced last season.

“Hopefully he can hit the ground running and I certainly believe that he will improve our team.”
