SADDLERS SNAP UP COOK

7 July 2014

Championship front man arrives at WS1...

WALSALL Football Club are delighted to today announce the signing of Jordan Cook on a two-year contract.

The lively frontman is no stranger to WS1 having enjoyed a prosperous loan spell under Dean Smith during the 2010/11 campaign. Joining from Premier League outfit, Sunderland, his performances helped The Saddlers maintain our place in League One, culminating in those fantastic scenes at Southampton on the final day of the season.

After that loan spell, Cook enjoyed a similar spell at Carlisle United before joining Charlton Athletic in the summer of 2012 following his release from the Black Cats. After two seasons at the Valley, the 24 year-old is delighted to be back at the Banks’s Stadium.

“I’m really excited to be back,” Cook told www.saddlers.co.uk. “I really enjoyed my first spell and I’ve kept an eye on the club’s results ever since.

“When Dean expressed an interest in me, I jumped at the chance to come back. I had an excellent relationship with him and have stayed in touch ever since.

“The club have made massive strides under his leadership and I can’t wait to push the club on even more.”

“Jordan is a player I’ve had my eye on for a long time,” added Smith. “I tried to get him two years ago but a Championship club like Charlton came in for him and he went there.

“He’s a player who will score goals for us. He brings us something that we didn’t have last season; he’s quick, gets in behind and scores goals.

“He’s played in the Premier League – against Manchester United and Chelsea – and he has played in the Championship. He’s a very good player who I’m looking forward to working with.”

Interviews with Jordan and Dean can be seen on our Official Facebook Page – Walsall FC Official.
