DONCASTER VS. WALSALL: RECENT MEETINGS

2 February 2016

Bradshaw's brilliant brace clinched a 2-0 victory in September...

Ahead of tonight’s match at Doncaster, we take a look back at the Saddlers’ last five matches against Rovers…

12th September 2015 – Walsall 2-0 Doncaster
Tom Bradshaw’s stunning late double gave Walsall a hard-fought victory over managerless Doncaster. The Saddlers’ top-scorer broke the deadlock with five minutes remaining when he rifled a right-footed volley into the top corner. He then secured the win in the second minute of stoppage time, with an exquisite lob over Doncaster keeper Thorsten Stuckmann.

7th February 2015 – Doncaster 0-2 Walsall
Manchester City loanee Jordy Hiwula scored a debut goal as Walsall earned a comfortable win. The Saddlers took a third-minute lead, when Anthony Forde's corner was hooked in by Jordan Cook at the near post. Forde went close to making it 2-0 with a deflected strike which rattled the bar, but substitute Hiwula clinched victory on 70 minutes with a well-directed header from Cook's cross.

27th September 2014 – Walsall 3-0 Doncaster
Former Doncaster winger James Baxendale came back to haunt his old side with the opening goal in a convincing home triumph. Baxendale fired Walsall ahead in first-half injury time with a superb angled drive into the far top corner from 12 yards. Tom Bradshaw's right-footed volley doubled our advantage on 57 minutes, and an Anthony Forde free-kick rounded off the scoring seven minutes later.

9th February 2013 – Doncaster 1-2 Walsall
Walsall recorded a sixth win in seven matches as they overcame promotion-chasing Doncaster. The Saddlers made a dream start, taking the lead after just 72 seconds through Andy Butler's close-range header. Billy Paynter equalised on 16 minutes, before Febian Brandy struck his fifth goal in eight appearances to earn Walsall victory, nine minutes from time.

18th August 2012 – Walsall 0-3 Doncaster
Doncaster started life back in League One with an emphatic opening-day win at the Banks’s. Rovers, who were relegated from the Championship the previous season, went in front on five minutes when Chris Brown slotted home. David Cotterill’s magnificent chip from near the halfway line made it 2-0, and Kyle Bennett added a third goal after half-time.
