First goal of the season for Baxendale against hometown club...

THE SCRIPT couldn't have been written any better.

Playing against his former club and hometown team, James Baxendale fired home his first goal of the season to help us secure a richly-deserved 3-0 victory over Doncaster Rovers.

Baxendale's goal came in first half stoppage time and came at the end of a well-worked free-kick routine.

"First and foremost, it was nice to play my part in the win," he said with a smile. "To score my first of the season and for it to come against my hometown team was nice and hopefully I can go on to get a few more now.

"It was a well-worked goal; Romaine did really well to pull the ball back and find me and I managed to get ahead of my marker and get in a left-footed strike.

"Doncaster are a fancied side, but it's all about us and six goals from our last two home games is a pleasing record. We want to make this a tough place to come and we know that to be able to do that, we need consistency in our performances.

"This League is unpredictable and we have something to really build upon now as we look to continue climbing up the table.

"It's a real team effort; the standard in training is extremely high and the competition is hotting up with the injured lads all starting to return to fitness. It bodes well for the team and those in it know that we have to keep performing to a high standard in order to keep our place.

"We're looking forward to Bristol City now. They are flying at the top of the table, but if we stick to our game plan, we'll give ourselves every chance of getting another positive result."
