SADDLERS DOMINATE

Boss on undeserved defeat at Crawley...

THE SADDLERS came home from Crawley Town with nothing to show for our efforts as a late goal saw us go down to a 1-0 defeat in a game where we had no fewer than 25 attempts at goal.

“We were outstanding,” said manager, Dean Smith. “As an attacking force we created so many chances but couldn’t put the ball in the net.

“The performance was good and we could have easily won by three or four goals. We controlled the game from start to finish but were undone right at the end by a free-kick that shouldn’t have been given in the first place.

“There were positives to take from the game, though, and with Sam Mantom on the bench tonight and Tom Bradshaw back for Saturday’s game, things are looking good.

“It’s easy to come out and face the press after a performance like that. More of them and we’ll start to climb the table.

“It was also good to see Michael Cain slot straight into the side; he looked as though he has played at this level for some time and made a big contribution.”
