CLUB PRESENTED WITH FA FAIR PLAY AWARD

5 August 2015

Saddlers rewarded for exemplary discipline record...

WALSALL Chief Executive, Stefan Gamble, accepted the FA’s Respect Fair Play award on behalf of the club at Wembley Stadium for the second consecutive season.

Gamble was a guest at last weekend’s Community Shield game between Arsenal and Chelsea and was handed the award by FA Chairman Grey Dyke.

Dyke visited the Banks’s Stadium back in January to present the Saddlers with a cheque for £10,000 after winning the award for the 2013/14 campaign.

Richard Watson, Birmingham County Welfare Officer and Dermot Colins, FA Respect Manager, attended our Open Training session on Tuesday to present Dean Smith with a cheque for the same amount, for our achievements last season.

Launched in 2008, the Respect Programme aimed to raised awareness of appropriate behaviour both on and off the pitch for players, coaches and spectators alike.

“We’re a club who prides itself on our disciplinary record,” said Smith.

“We try and instil a philosophy into the players and staff which focuses on playing the game competitively but whilst maintaining the morals and values of the sport.

“To win the award for the second successive season is really pleasing and I hope we can continue the good work into the new season.”
