Training Ground Manager delighted with Club Hero nomination...
THE FOOTBALL League have announced 72 ‘Club Heroes’, recognising a member of staff at each of the 72 Football League clubs.The award highlights the role played by staff at clubs throughout the League, whose work often goes unnoticed. All clubs were asked to nominate one member of staff to be recognised for their loyal and dedicated service off-the-pitch. Those selected cover a whole variety of roles showing the many different aspects of a professional football club, and include employees that have been involved with their club for over 10 years.
Each of the 72 people nominated will receive a special commemorative glass plaque to mark their inclusion in the list.
The Saddlers’ Club Hero is long-serving Training Ground Manager, Paul Mason, who works hard to maintain the pitches at the Training Ground.
“I was shocked to be put forward by the club for this award,” he admitted. “I just turn up each day and do my job.
“It’s a big honour for my work to be recognised in this way, though. I do my best to give the team the best possible surface to train on, but I couldn’t do it all on my own. It’s a real team effort with a number of people playing their part.
“I’d like to dedicate the award to my dad, Dave, who passed away a couple of years ago.”
