SADDLERS DIG IN

28 October 2014

Skipper toasts return to winning ways...

SADDLERS' skipper, Adam Chambers, felt that his side were worthy winners as we overcame the challenge of Chesterfield on Saturday.

"They are a good side and we had to dig in and show resillience at times," he admitted. "When we went forward, though, particularly in the second half, we looked a real threat.

"It was an all-round difficult game but we deserved the victory. There was an intensity to our play both in a defensive and offensive sense and it was great to see Tom back in action and with his name on the scoresheet again.

"We don't want to make excuses, but we've had so many injuries to key players to contend with so far and now it's nice to have a fully fit squad with everyone pushing for their place.

"Now we can really show what we are all about; the hope is that we can keep everyone fit and continue pushing on up the table."

The next challenge for The Saddlers is another West v East Midlands clash as we travel to Notts County on Saturday.

After struggling last term, The Magpies are flying high in the League One table this time around.

"Notts County will be confident because they are having a good season so far," added Chambers. "They have turned things around from last year, but we go there on the back of two good performances and with a real determination to start picking up some points on our travels.

"It will be another keen;y-contested game and one that we are looking forward to."
