TEAM TALK v CARLISLE UNITED, 18/4/14

17 April 2014

Boss hoping for a Good Friday...

WE GO into the game knowing that Carlisle United are scrapping away for their lives in the lower reaches of the table and as such they will be battling hard for the three points on offer.

As far as we are concerned, we don't want the season to just fizzle out. We pride ourselves on professionalism and our aim is to finish above the ninth position that we achieved last term and give this club its highest finish for some time.

It's been a tough season for our hosts; they didn't get off to the best of starts and Graham Kavanagh came in to replace Greg Abbott early on. You could say that its been a baptism of fire for him in his first managerial appointment and he has had to use the loan market, but you can be sure that he will have his team up for the challenge.

We go into the game looking to make amends for Saturday's home defeat at the hands of Bristol City in a game that we didn't deserve to lose.

We were on top for the majority but struggled in the final third and it ended up costing us.

With four games to go I will be picking football teams to win football matches. We want to end the season in a positive run of form and will be aiming to take maximum points from our remaining fixtures.

Our consistency of performance can't be questioned this season. We've improved on last year and now we want to finish higher than we did last season.

I have every faith in my players' ability to achieve that as we go into the Easter weekend with two important games coming up.

I thank those supporters who will be making the long trip up to Carlisle and hope that we will give you something to cheer about.
