SMITH ON GOOD FRIDAY DRAW

18 April 2014

Boss reflects on draw at Carlisle...

SADDLERS’boss, Dean Smith, has reflected upon our 1-1 draw at Carlisle United.

“This is always a tough place to come,” he said. “It was good to see us come back from a goal down to take a point, but we are disappointed that we couldn’t take all three.

“We kept the ball well during the first half but our tempo was nowhere near good enough. We got into the lads at half-time as we felt that we were too slow on the ball.

“Things improved after the break and we were able to take the game to them. Andy Butler and Paul Downing were magnificent and this helped us to get onto the front-foot.

“I was really pleased to see Michael Ngoo get off the mark. He’s a hard-working and honest lad who wants to do well and hopefully he can follow this up with a few more goals in the remaining games.

“It was also nice to be able to have a look at Kieron Morris. He put in a couple of decent crosses, including one for the goal, and he didn’t do himself any harm at all.

“There was plenty to play for here today; for our own professional pride and the fans who made the long journey to support us. We want to get as many points as we can and finish as high as possible.

“Our thoughts now turn to Monday’s game and getting back into winning ways on home soil.”
