Midfield man delighted to extend Saddlers' stay...
HAVING established himself in The Saddlers’ team since his loan switch from Leicester City in October, talented midfielder, Michael Cain, has extended his stay until the end of the season.The 20 year-old has been in good form in the heart of the side, figuring in all 18 games since his arrival and weighing in with three goals so far – including one in each of our last two games.
“I’ve really enjoyed the first three months of my time here,” he said without hesitation. “It’s a great club to be involved with and everyone has made me feel welcome.
“It’s been a good experience for me and a real learning curve; I feel that I have really developed as a player and as a person since I have been here.
“It’s nice to know that I will be staying here for the rest of the season now. I can settle down and really kick on during these exciting months that lie ahead.
“As a team we’ve put in some excellent performances since I have been here and our results have picked up.
“League One is a physical and technical League; there are some good teams and some talented players playing at this level, but I am happy with how I am adapting to it and the experience can only benefit me.
“Also having Adam Chambers alongside me has been a massive help. He’s got bags of experience and gives me plenty of good feedback.”
Cain is now focussed on our next game, which sees us lock horns with Preston North End in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Area Final second leg, as a first-ever trip to Wembley sits tantalisingly close.
“We did really well in the first leg and it would be a great achievement if we can go on and finish the job off,” he added. “It’s going to be a great occasion with a sell-out crowd and superb atmosphere. These are the type of games that you want to be involved in.
“To play my part in helping this club get to Wembley for the first time would be superb, but we know that there is a lot of hard work still ahead for us in the tie.
“That said, we know what we are capable of, and if we can reach those standards and start to get our home form right, then we can achieve our objectives.”
