Tom Bradshaw felt the Saddlers were ‘unlucky’ not to take all three points from an absorbing 1-1 draw with promotion-rivals Sheffield United.Walsall twice hit the woodwork in a one-sided first-half but didn’t take the lead until the 51st minute, Bradshaw converting Romaine Sawyers’ cross from close range.
But the Blades, who were second best for long periods, salvaged a point courtesy of Jose Baxter’s accurate 20-yard strike on 66 minutes.
And Bradshaw, who has now scored 30 goals in 58 appearances for the Saddlers, had mixed feelings afterwards.
“There’s a slight feeling of frustration but we’ve got to take the positives out of the game,” said the 23-year-old.
“We dominated the game and were unlucky not to get the three points.
“It was frustrating (not to win) but it was also really positive that we get so many shots away and created a lot of chances.
“On another day we’d have got the three points but luck wasn’t on our side, hitting the post and the bar.
“We were pleased with the performance, frustrated with the result.”
Although disappointed with a draw, Bradshaw was pleased to score his tenth goal of the season – ending a five-game personal goal drought.
“It was a great ball from Romaine across the goal and, as a striker, they’re my bread and butter goals,” he said.
“I can’t remember scoring too many goals from outside the box, but hopefully I can get six or seven of them this season.
“I’ve had a few chances (in the last few games) that have been an inch off but I’m still confident and to get to ten goals before December is quite an achievement.
“I think that’s more than what I was on last season at this stage (he had nine) so I’m happy with my goals so far.
“Hopefully I can kick on and help the team stay around the top two.”
The Saddlers’ top scorer recently earned his first senior Wales call-up for their international friendly against the Netherlands.
And despite not featuring against the Dutch, Bradshaw thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being around the Dragons’ squad.
“It was invaluable to train with those calibre of players and to get coached by Chris Coleman,” he added.
“I just tried to soak everything in and apply it to my game, and just enjoy the experience – which I did.
“Regardless of the fact I didn’t get on, it was something I really enjoyed and it was an invaluable experience for me.
“It was an experience that I wouldn’t change and it was brilliant to learn off the likes of Ashley Williams, Joe Ledley and Joe Allen – players who’ve been in the Premier League for years.
“It’s something I’m hoping to be involved in more in the future.”
